Vegvisir Altar Tile

The Vegvisir (Icelandic Vegvísir, “That Which Shows the Way;” pronounced “VEGG-vee-seer”) is a symbol described in a modern Icelandic collection of spells, the  Huld manuscript. The Manuscript says: “If this sign is carried, one will never lose one’s way in storms or bad weather, even when the way is not known.” In modern day heathenry, the vegvisir is a symbol worn to protect travelers and keep them safe. It is often a symbol used for general protection and worn to protect oneself through life.

This hand burned vegvisir has been deeply burned for a tactile feel and stunning contrast with the color of the wood. It is ritually burned and sealed, then sealed with a protective coating to keep the piece good and vibrant. Tile measures approximately 10-12cm
