So, Who the hell are you Miss Vampyre Witch?
Well hello there. My name is Jessica Lovelace O’Mallie-Corvidae, but for the sake of conversation and most of my business, I am just Jessica Lovelace. It’s hard to label my practice, but if I had to, I’d say I am a Vampyric Omni-Witch. Keep reading to find out what the heck that even means.
First and foremost. Welcome! You’ve managed to make it to my blog, The Vampyre Witch: Musings for the Arcane and the Profane! My blog resides here on my shoppe website, the Omnia Corvus Curiosities Shoppe. All of this has been my pride and joy lately and I am so thankful to have you here to share it with. Your presence here means the world to me and I greatly appreciate your support. Since you’ve made it here to my little witchy shoppe, I feel like I should tell you a little bit about me!
Who I am and what I do.
Well, as someone who has dedicated my entire life to creating and maintaining safe spaces for people to freely express themselves, I take pride in being able to continue to do so even to this day. When I turned 18 I dove head first into the local nightlife scene. Shortly thereafter I dedicated myself to the safety and harm reduction side of event operations. Through this experience I cultivated a love for my local community that will never leave me. This love is what drives me to continue to put myself at the front lines of change for the community around me. Whether it’s the streets of Baltimore or the Vampyre and Occult communities that hide in the shadows of this city, I bring the same strength and fervor to the table to breed positive outlets and keep them safe. My passions lie in enabling and strengthening Baltimore’s “weird, witchy” or “spooky” culture and I dedicate myself to the creation of opportunities for Baltimore’s alt communities. These days, a few organizations exist under my lead that are the foundation of a new era of counterculture and Vampyre community in Baltimore and beyond. About 2003 is when my first “awakenings” occurred. This is when I became aware of my energy sensitivities. At the ripe old age of 13, the journey of trying to figure out who and what I was began. What was happening to me? Why was I suddenly able to sense the things I could? Thus began a long solitary journey of self discovery. Left to my own devices, I never had much “structure” in my practice and therefore I organically came to learn about many principles. My style of practice varies a lot due to my many years of personal research and development. Taking this path with my spirituality has morphed my practice style into what it is today. The best way to describe myself would be an “eclectic grey witch.” How vague, right? Let’s try that again. I am a Vampyric Omni-Witch whose guides come from many places.
Okay, so what the hell does any of that mean?
Well, Omnism is the belief that there is truth in all religions and spiritual faiths. While Omnism isn’t exactly a new term… It doesn’t have much history in the ways of practice. Being its rather unexplored nature, it’s left up to interpretation by those who use the term. I believe that there is truth in all religions and spiritual faiths. Not that all religions are the absolute truth but I don’t think any of them are flat out wrong. They all hold merit to some degree, some much more than others. The flip side to this is I don’t believe any one tradition has it all right either. Religion is a great game of cultural telephone. Each is a retelling of the same stories, bastardized by the conditions of their locality. Language, geography, and the explanation of things by means of which their particular culture would understand has given us the spiritual teachings we have been passed through the ages. It’s all connected, and there is something to be learned from all of it. Here is a Wiki excerpt about omnism: “In recent years, the term[Omnism] has been emerging anew, due to the interest of modern-day self-described omnists who have rediscovered and begun to redefine the term. It can be thought of as syncretism taken to its logical extreme. However, it can also be seen as a way to accept the existence of various religions without believing in all that they profess to teach. Many omnists say that all religions contain truths, but that no one religion offers all that is truth.”
Okay but Vampyric? You can’t be serious...
My dear, I am very serious. As the leader of the Vampire Court of Baltimore and Matriarch of House Omnia Corvus, it is a personal mission of mine to spread the indulgent splendors of Vampire Culture and Vampyric Mysticism. If you have an interest in such things, please feel free to reach out to me. I’d love to hear from you. My personal journey with Vampyrism is one of personal mastery and energetic sorcery. The awakening of my Vampyric nature was the cause of my interest in magick to begin with. Exercising the ability to willingly take in and use life force energy from many sources to manifest desire and purpose is a niche but rapidly growing form of esoteric practice that has roots traced back to the 60’s, but popularized in the early 90’s. Awakening to this force at a young age was difficult, but has led me to this very point, and I’m very grateful to be sharing it with those who seek it out.
Alright, so wtf is an Omni-Witch? Omni-Witch is a newer term describing a witch that practices indiscriminately throughout many traditions and paths. As with Omnism itself, Omni-Witches have the ability to choose the context of which they use this label. It’s a way to encompass an otherwise unlabelable path. Rather than being eclectic, it acknowledges a respect for all traditions and the power they hold in their own rights. Whom I choose to work with and how is strictly up to me. The ability to pick and choose my own way and find results in whatever I put power into is based solely on my intuitive prerogative. I recognize and utilize the power within many traditions. A little bit of chaos in one’s practice can be very helpful 😉
Omnia Corvus is a Common theme around here, what’s that about? Omnia Corvus is a nod to my Omnistic ways yet still showing leanings from my usual magickal practice. Omnia Corvus, or All Raven in Latin is the idea of taking heed to all the messages the Raven sends us. Ravens are a large bird that was often seen feeding on carrion, black as the night is dark with a deep disturbing croak was often viewed as an omen of death. However, it is also seen as a source of power, straddling the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead. Therefore often depicted as a messenger between the two words, carrying with them the power of the Gods. In Norse Mythology, Odin’s Ravens Huginn and Muninn fly around the entire world gathering information to relay to Odin. We regard Ravens as symbols of the unending pursuit of knowledge. We explore all of the knowledge that the mighty Raven chooses to bestow upon us and we do not ignore the paths we are led to, even the foreboding ones.
With all of that said…
